Đoka Pavlović Cultural-Artistic Association of PTT Serbia Public Company was founded in 1945 by the Department of Post, Telegraph, and Telephone Offices. Their intent was to animate the youth and workers of the PTT group by letting them engage in different music and dance activities. However, the Ensemble was soon open to all citizens that wished to participate in some of its numerous cultural sections. Over six decades of existence, Đoka Pavlović Cultural-Artistic Association won many prestigious awards for their contribution to national folklore with their high-level performances, helping the promotion of Belgrade and Serbia all over the world.
Đoka Pavlović Cultural-Artistic Association was the stepping stone not only for many of its devoted members, which spent the first and best years of their amateur career in the Ensemble, but also for many professional artists with successful national and international careers, that began their professional engagement in the Ensemble's Folklore Group, Folk Orchestra, Chamber Choir, Writer's Club, Art Group, and Origami Section.
Pavlović Ensemble follows avidly the contemporary world trends in folklore and dance, attempting an integration of modern folklore and performance elements and maintaining constant improvement of their organizational structure and activities. By accepting new goals and challenges, the Ensemble successfully combines traditional folklore dances with elements of modern dance, thus creating a unique dance expression.
This ensemble is the home of the most prolific Serbian choreographers, conductors, musicians, and pedagogues, intent on reaching their ultimate goal - the creation of a world-class national cultural ensemble, consisting of individual artistic groups including:
Their authentic musical and dance style is based on the traditional, classical folklore figures combined with elements of classical ballet and supported by intensive physical training of dancers.
Serbian folk treasure, created as a result of the dramatic blend of different cultural influences and a soft fusion of European rich musical heritage and Oriental sensitivity, with an added flavour of intense artistic visions, provides for the ultimate artistic experience that will satisfy even the highest demands.
For all this, Pavlović Ensemble can be considered the originator and flagship of the 'new wave' of traditional Serbian music, song, and dance, serving as a source of immense pride to Serbia Post Office, the City of Belgrade, and Serbian culture.
